Keynote Speaker – Dr. LorRaine Tauchi Duffy, PhD

Collaborative Technologies in DoD: Current and Future State of the Art, Operational and Tactical Requirements

LorRaine Duffy, PhD has served as the Navy representative to the Joint Staff/OSD Collaboration Interoperability Working Group since 2002. She has also been the Navy Technical Warrant Holder for Forcenet Collaboration since 2003. She is a senior scientist in collaborative technologies for joint mission planning at SSC Pacific. Prior to that, she served as a distributed battle management scientist for the US Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio. She has been the director of the annual Joint Chat Systems Conference since 2004 and has been conducting research and policy analysis in command and control (C2) collaborative technologies for the past 20 years, providing technical consultation to all the COCOMS, as well as DTRA, DARPA, OSD NII, DISA, and DCCM.

She has managed over a dozen science and technology projects in the areas of virtual workspace environments, “community of interest” software for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (also known as stability operations), cross-cultural management and computing, hybrid peer to peer middleware, engineering/network data collection and analysis, joint battle rhythm management, and network-centric collaboration services, as well as science and technology transition (for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency). Her current research interests involve the development of data gloves for tactical personnel and iconic chat development, along with wearable tactical computing devices for chemical-biological defense personnel.
