23 May Morning Session #3: Common Coalition Operational Picture Current military and other DoD operations demand that the US and its allies have a shared awareness of operational and tactical situations. Historically, situational awareness has been typically maintained on a classified Common Operational Picture (COP) across US forces and their allies. The Global War on Terrorism has driven a change in the information required to conduct operations, as well as significant changes to the nature of the organizations now included in coalition operations. With the increasing multi-national and multi-agency aspects of warfare in the 21st century, we must extend the definition of coalition to include other partners outside of our traditional allies to ensure shared information dominance. We must also pay particular attention to including an unclassified version of the COP to enable all coalition partners to contribute to that shared situational awareness. Join leaders from the military, government, and industry in an engaging discussion of these trends for implementing the Coalition Common Operational Picture.
