Al Haefner joined AFCEA San Diego Executive Committee in 2008 to continue this model chapter’s drive toward sustained membership. His position in Industry is the San Diego based Sr. Business Development Mgr. for Raytheon NCS supporting Maritime Communication Solutions. His San Diego Industry background includes time spent with Serco Inc. as the Operations Center Manager leading the SEA Enterprise Ship Installation teams and with Raytheon IDS as the west coast Business Development Manager responsible for domestic and international program execution, business growth and the development, and execution of growth strategies for the Naval & Maritime business sector while building relationships with government and industry partners.

Prior to joining the Defense Industry in 2005, Al completed a 30-year career in the US Navy that included serving as a helicopter pilot, amphibious ship Captain, Aircraft Carrier Exec and Expeditionary Strike Group Commander. His operational tours included Naval support in the Cold War, Iranian Hostage crisis, Operation Earnest Will, the Gulf War and Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.

Al holds a Masters Degree in Distance Education from the University of Maryland, University College, a Graduate Diploma from the Australian Joint Services Staff College, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Haven.
