AFCEA San Diego Science Fair Program

AFCEA-SD is a major participant at the local Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair (GSDSEF) held annually.

In the Middle School category, we select 10 students as finalists who receive a one year family membership to the Aerospace museum and exhibit their projects at both the C4I symposium and a special recognition reception.

At the reception, awardees also make a five minute presentation on their project to invited judges and the audience (parents, teachers, friends).

At least one student is selected as the grand prize winner to receive a one week all expense paid trip to the NASA space camp in Alabama. In the High School category, we select at least 4 finalists to present their projects at the C4I symposium and are given awards of $750 each. Also, one grand prize winner is selected and given an additional award of $2,000 and he/she becomes the AFCEA-SD nominee for the AFCEA International Science Fair competition.

If the AFCEA-SD nominee wins the International competition, he/she and family receive an all expense paid trip to Transformation Warfare Symposium and Exposition in Virginia Beach to receive a cash award of $1,000.
AFCEA-SD nominee last year won this International award and our previous year nominee received the runner-up award.
